Easy Strawberry Jam

It’s strawberry season in North Carolina! A quick trip to a local U-Pick farm with my sister, granddaughter and her friend was wonderful! Driving home the car smelled like sweet strawberries soon to become strawberry jam!

Growing up we dreaded fruit season. Mom would purchase strawberries and other fruit and we’d spend days on end canning and preserving the fruit. We spent hours in a hot kitchen washing, coring, slicing, and stirring hot jam before placing it in jars to be sealed. Times have changed and it’s not how we make jam in 2019!

2019 Jam Making

Today Dad is the one canning and making jam. He loves his Ball Jam Maker so much that I had to buy one too! It’s extremely easy to use and who doesn’t love homemade jam? It’s fresh, fruity, and preservative free. Plus you can control the sugar content. Read about it: Ball Jam Maker

Reasons I love the Ball Jam Maker
  1. No hassle – the directions are easy to follow for fail-proof jams and jellies.
  2. No hot kitchen – making jam on the stove is not difficult but it is a hot, sweaty job. The Ball Jam Maker won’t heat up your kitchen. It’s kind of like a crock pot for jam.
  3. No working all day – you can make a batch of jam in 30 minutes.
  4. No constant stirring – the jam maker does all the boiling and stirring for you.
  5. No messy kitchen – the jam maker has just 4 easy-to-clean parts (base, pot, lid, stirring blade) and you need just a small workspace.
  6. No large batches – this gem of a machine makes 2 pints which means you can pick strawberries from your yard and make a small batch as berries ripen. Our sister-in-law Tonya picks fresh fruit daily and then makes a batch of jam after work. Or you can pick fresh berries, prepare and freeze, then pull out when you’ve got time.
Let me show you how easy it is

I have never tried a jam maker, I love this idea! My kitchen/house always gets so hot when we cook it, and I love that it does small batches!

It’s one of those things that’s kind of pricey to buy but it is so worth it! It takes all the time and guesswork out of jam. I plan to make raspberry jam next!!
