Where to sell your stuff
If you’re in a decluttering phase you probably have a lot of stuff that needs to go. There are many ways to let go (get rid) of the stuff you have been gifted or purchased over the years. It’s always nice to make a little money so consider trying to sell it. Selling items takes a lot of work and a lot of patience but knowing the best way to sell items really helps.
For the last 8 years, I’ve helped people downsize and move. I’ve compiled a list of ways to get the most cash from your items. Look over What and where to sell your stuff to see a table about what and where to sell for top dollar.
Remember to be careful selling to people you don’t know. I do a lot of “doorstep” selling. I leave items on my porch or near my garage door for people to come and get. It saves time, is safer, and I get the asking price. I have also met a few people at grocery stores where there are a lot of people. Be safe!

Hi, I love the idea of decluttering. It’s so good for your mindset and always makes me just feel better. And, it’s a great way to make a little extra cash. I like how you mentioned that safety is an important thing to consider! I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog posts! Melissa

I tried selling a few old clothes on Ebay, some went but I still have a big bag of stuff! I usually donate it to charity if I can’t sell it myself. Thanks for the tips!

Jade, good luck selling your stuff! It’s not easy but it’s nice to have a little extra cash when you’re done.

I love that I found this today! This is exactly what I’m doing – purging and selling. Feels good but you’re right, you need to be careful whos coming to your door!

Nancy, safety is my #1 concern when selling. I think selling from the front porch is a great way to go.

I’m always looking to sell my stuff when I no longer use it! I try to set aside one day a quarter to go through things and get rid of it!

Amy, you’ve got the right idea to declutter often like once a quarter. I wish I was that disciplined!! haha This is my big summer of decluttering.

Great quick informational read. After spring came, the cleaning came and I haven’t stopped yet. Decluttering my house and turning it into a more modern interior design without a bunch of clutter everywhere is my goal this year. But, its so hard to say goodbye to certain objects sometimes.

Katie, believe me, I know how hard it is to let go of some items. It’s kind of like comfort food but comfort things taking us back to happy times and good memories. Good luck as you redecorate!

These are good ideas. Another tip that I’ve found useful is to rent a spot at your local flea market. Spots are usually cheap and you get a lot more traffic than you would at a garage sale.

Tracy, I love the idea of renting a spot at a flea market. Then drive to Goodwill or another place on the way home to drop off what has not sold. Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
