What-so-ever-ish is born

Every spring I spend as many days as I can visiting my sister in our hometown of Wenatchee, Washington, This year, like every year, my sister and I enjoyed visiting antique malls, yard sales, decorating stores, nurseries, hiking, exploring old towns, a quick trip to Seattle, breakfast with Dad, and a project or two around her house. She is extremely talented and sees everything from a decorating perspective – color, texture, etc.  Sometime in that two weeks we decided to start a blog — we know our niche — decorating, gardening, exploring, and family. But choosing a blog name was hard, really hard. Hard because so many of the names we chose someone else also loved and were not available as domains.

We considered all our favorite words like wander, gather, beautify, glean and many others but those words or a play on those words weren’t available. Then we thought about phrases from favorite quotes and scriptures. We considered dozens.  But the one we kept coming back to is Philippians 4:8 from the King James Version:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

That’s when we fell in love with the word “Whatsoever”. Of course, it wasn’t available as a domain name. So we started thinking of variations of the word and “ish” came to mind. Ish has wonderful connotations: like; somewhat; belonging to; having the characteristics of; addicted to; tending to; near or about.  Ish is an all-encompassing adjective and we love it!!

We loved the name “Whatsoeverish”! The blogging Facebook group we belong to loved it too!

So our website was born … What-so-ever-ish: Whatsoever things are lovely … think on those things.
